Journalism Fellowship to Cover the 2026 Global Environmental Facility Assembly

Journalists with a passion for environmental issues now have the chance to participate in a major international event.

The Earth Journalism Network is offering fellowships for reporters from low- and middle-income countries to cover the Eighth Global Environment Facility (GEF) Assembly, which will be held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from May 31 to June 6, 2026.

The Assembly is a global platform where environmental leaders, policymakers, and experts come together to discuss pressing topics such as climate change, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable development.

For participating journalists, this is an opportunity to gain firsthand insights and bring these discussions to audiences back home.

Fellowship Benefits

Selected journalists will receive:

Eligibility

Applicants should:

• Be professional journalists working with recognized media outlets
• Reside in a low- or middle-income country
• Have experience reporting on environmental, climate, or development topics
• Be fluent in English
• Be available to attend the full week of the Assembly
