The Taz Panter Journalism Training Programme for African Journalists (Fully Funded)

 

African journalists can now apply for a fully funded international training programme that includes online learning and a 12-day workshop in Berlin and Brussels.

The 2026 Journalism Training Programme, organized by the taz Panter Foundation, is designed to equip journalists with deeper knowledge of global affairs and strengthen their reporting and storytelling skills.

Participants will gain practical experience, collaborate with journalists from different countries, and better understand how global political developments impact Africa.

Programme Structure
The programme will be conducted in two phases:

  • Phase 1 (Online):
    Begins in April 2026, featuring virtual workshops, discussions, and expert-led sessions over several months
  • Phase 2 (Physical):
    A 12-day workshop around September 2026 in Berlin and Brussels, focusing on practical and collaborative learning

Participants will also produce joint media content, including publications and audio projects.

Who Can Apply
Journalists from the following countries are eligible: Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, The Gambia, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritania, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:

  • Be practicing journalists with relevant experience
  • Be proficient in English
  • Show interest in global affairs and African development
  • Be available for both online and in-person phases

Women journalists are strongly encouraged to apply.
